Packaging Parts for Shipment:

1. All parts must be packaged for shipment with quality and care in order to store them for long durations. Extra protection should be placed around parts as an added security against damage. All parts are to be protected via the weight classifications below to ensure that they will arrive at their destination in the same condition as when they left.

2. WEIGHT CLASSIFICATIONS

CLASS 1A- Material or assemblies that weigh over 2000 lbs.  Packaged in ¾“ plywood perimeter crate with moisture paper. 4”x4” pine base, 2”x4” pine internal bracing, 3 ¼” coated nails, 2” coated staples with 1” metal banding. Part(s) is braced inside the plywood crate with 2”x4” ’s or bolted to the bottom of the structure.

CLASS 1B- Material or assemblies that weigh over 70 lbs. And less than 2000 lbs.  Packaged in 5/8” plywood perimeter crate.  4”x4” pine base, 2”x4” internal pine bracing.  3 ¼” coated nails, 2” coated staples with 1” metal banding.  Parts are individually contained in corrugated cardboard boxes braced inside with the 2”x4” pine construction.

CLASS 2A- Material weighing 70 lbs. or less.  Packaged in ¼“ thick corrugated cardboard assembled with heat tape.  Part (s) are wrapped in bubbled pack, moisture paper etc. and are suspended in Flo Pak.

CLASS 2B- Material weighing 1 lb. or which is to be shipped regular mail.  Packaged in 2 mil polyethylene re-closeable pouches.

3. REQUIREMENTS

A box size must be chosen that will not only contain the order, but also have allowances for braces, plywood, Flo Pak and any other packing items that will be added. These packing items are added at the shipper's discretion to prevent parts from moving around inside the box, hitting other parts in the box or having too much weight on them. Warehouse personnel are encouraged to over-pack items as opposed to under-packing them.

4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISION

Parts must be packaged so that no damage or deterioration will occur during transit. The recipient will not see the parts until after shipping so the packaging must keep the parts in the same condition they were in prior to shipment. The employee responsible for the shipment shall initial the shipping order to ensure correct packaging requirements are met.
